Week 2: Building Digital Leadership at Skyview Middle School

As I think about digital leadership at Skyview Middle School in Falcon School District 49, I keep coming back to the idea that we do not need another initiative. We need a clear, shared approach. Two frameworks feel especially useful for this work. The first is the systems thinking approach from Michael Fullan and Ben Levin , which focuses on long-term, sustainable change (Levin & Fullan, 2008). The second is the Triple E Framework developed by Liz Kolb , which helps teachers think about how technology actually supports learning (Kolb, 2020). Together, these frameworks help connect big-picture leadership with what is happening in classrooms every day. Week 1: Technology as a Strategy for Equity and Student Voice

I selected the interview with Dr. John Albert as I have a particular interest the topic of technology and multilingual learners. In the interview with Dr. John Albert, one idea that stands out clearly is technology should help students share their voices and expand their opportunities. As the instructional leader of California Elementary School and the iInspire Academy, Albert explains that the school’s one-to-one iPad program was never just about providing devices. Instead, the goal was to respond to real challenges in literacy, language development, and technology access. His perspective reflects an important idea found in educational technology research. Meaningful technology integration begins with clear learning goals and equity concerns, not with the tools themselves (Stachowiak & McClay, 2024).
